It allows you to connect FireWire devices that are up to 70 meters (about 230ft) away via inexpensive Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable. It's very easy to use and requires no software installation. Just plug and go.

What's the difference? There are now a few options for FireWire 400Mbps repeaters on the market. The main differences between them are first, speed. Most only run up to 100Mbps, whereas the two that we carry are 400Mbps. Secondly, reliability. We carry only commercial grade repeaters, which means that they're built to withstand tougher conditions than most, including temp rated, and the item on this page also has screw mounts for installation virtually anywhere.

Are power adapters required? Yes, the required power adapters are required at each end, and both are also included in each kit. Each one has about 10ft of cable with it for easy placement.

Compatible with FireWire devices it doesn't matter what brand, make or model your FireWire device is, this is compatible. It's just as if your FireWire port were right there by your device. FireWire can run up to 400Mbps, and this device handles every bit of it. Great for DV cameras, hard drives, remote controls, robotics, etc.
